Suspect Wanted for Assault with a Deadly Weapon

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Central Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect responsible for an assault with a deadly weapon that occurred in the Gaslamp area.
On June 16, 2024, at about 3:30 a.m., a physical altercation took place along the sidewalk of 500 F Street, in San Diego. The exact circumstances surrounding the altercation are unknown at this time. During the altercation, a 24-year-old male security guard was attempting to break up a fight between two males. The suspect punched the security guard (victim) in his face with a closed fist. The victim tried defending himself, and both the suspect and victim went to the ground. It appears the suspect dragged the victim down, causing the victim to strike his neck on the curb. The suspect was last seen leaving the area in an unknown direction.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The victim suffered several major injuries to his body including a fractured vertebrae and is now paralyzed from the waist down.
There was a large crowd who witnessed this incident and most likely videotaped it on their cell phones. Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed this incident to contact them.
Suspect’s Description
The suspect is described as a Black male, mid 20’s, 6’4” to 6’5” tall, 220-230lbs., wearing black pants, black and red tennis shoes, and a black shirt with a large red logo on the front and back of the shirt.
